KOT Launched

KOT is designed to help teachers understand a child’s strength through assessing approaches to learning, well-being, social development and conceptual understanding at the beginning of kindergarten. The observation instrument is currently in use at select kindergarten programs throughout the state, with statewide implementation anticipated by the beginning of the 2016 school year.

Plans are to integrate KOT teacher reports into the Kindergarten Observation Tool Application (KOTA) thus allowing schools and districts access via a secured SharePoint site. The data gathered from the KOT allows teachers to make informed instructional decisions; and through the KOTA, provide school and district staff with actionable data for decisions addressing the needs of the “whole child.”
