What is the age of children served?

Birth to age 5 (child care subsidy is also available for children to age 12).

Who is eligible?

A variety of registered homes and licensed child care centers are available statewide. The Child Care Assistance Program subsidizes the cost of child care for low-income families (at or below 150% of the federal poverty level) who are working and/or in school and have a need for child care. Once determined eligible for Child Care Assistance, families can remain eligible up to 200% FPL.

What services are provided?

Child care programs provide early childhood education to young children of parents who work or are school, or who are looking for a setting for their child to learn and develop. Child care teachers provide learning experiences so that young children will be ready for school. Each licensed program that participates in the "FOCUS on Young Children’s Learning" quality star rating are supported by a consultant to increase the quality of the early learning services they provide.
